STAFF REPORTS

CHERRY HILL – Joseph Calchi has been named president and publisher of the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill and The Daily Journal in Vineland.

William Janus, who most recently led the Courier-Post as general manager and advertising director, was named president and publisher of The Daily Times in Salisbury, Maryland.

The appointments, which are effective immediately, were announced Tuesday by Gannett Co., Inc.

Calchi, 52, previously was general manager and advertising director at The Daily Journal, where he has worked for 30 years.

"There is no one that knows the southern New Jersey community better than Joe," said Bob Dickey, president of Gannett U.S. Community Publishing. "He's spent most of his life in the area and will bring a great wealth of knowledge to his new role. We look forward to Joe leading both the Courier-Post and The Daily Journal."

Calchi's appointment is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the position of the Courier-Post and The Daily Journal in the South Jersey media market. They will continue to publish separate newspapers and websites that support the needs of their unique communities.

Calchi has spent his entire career at The Daily Journal, starting as an account executive in 1985 and holding many positions in sales and advertising. He has been the advertising director since 1996 and took on the additional role of general manager in 2010.

Calchi is a two-time winner of Gannett's President's Ring for Excellence in Advertising and has won many New Jersey Press Association awards.

A graduate of Cumberland County College in Vineland, he is married with one daughter.

"I couldn't be more proud to lead these two great news organizations," Calchi said. "Their websites and newspapers play such important roles in the local communities they serve."
