CAMDEN -  A city man died in a police-involved shooting Tuesday night in the Fairview section, authorities said.

The shooting occurred after two Camden County Police officers responded to a 911 call for a domestic violence incident in the Crescent Gardens apartment complex around 7 p.m., according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

"The caller indicated a male involved in the incident was possibly armed," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

Preliminary information indicates the officers and the suspect traded gunshots in the 3200 block of Rutledge Walk.

The suspect, identified only as a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead a short time later at Cooper University Hospital, Camden. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The officers involved were placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation into the shooting by the prosecutor's office. Their names were not released.

The incident was the second police shooting that involved a man's death in Camden this year.

Oscar Camacho, 33, was fatally shot by two officers in the Cramer Hill section on July 3. Authorities have said he vowed to kill police officers and take his own life in a 911 call minutes before an 11:20 p.m. confrontation.
