CAMDEN - Authorities on Wednesday identified a 24-year-old city man who died in a police-involved shooting in the Fairview neighborhood.

Freddy Baez was fatally shot after two Camden County police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the Crescent Gardens apartment complex on Tuesday, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said. A 911 caller had indicated Baez was possibly armed.

Preliminary findings indicate the officers and Baez exchanged gunshots around 7 p.m. on the 3200 block of Rutledge Walk, the prosecutor's office said.

Baez was pronounced dead a short time later at Cooper University Hospital, Camden.

The officers' names were not released. They were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the prosecutor's office.

The incident was the second police shooting that involved a man's death in Camden this year.

Oscar Camacho, 33, was fatally shot by two officers in the Cramer Hill section on July 3. Authorities have said he vowed to kill police officers and take his own life in a 911 call minutes before an 11:20 p.m. confrontation.
