Every week, this column endeavors to cover what’s going on in the South Jersey bar and live music scene. For this week, let’s take a look at one particular town and see what their scene is all about. Break out your fun-time microscopes as we focus in on Somerdale!

When it moved its brewing operations down from Cherry Hill in 2012, Flying Fish gave Somerdale instant credibility in the world of craft beer. It’s easy to find Flying Fish almost anywhere in the area, but their tasting room offers special beers that can only be found at the source. Come to the tasting room on Firkin Thursdays, where a unique brew is tapped each week. If you can’t make it out, Flying Fish is flexible enough — the tasting room is open Wednesday through Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., noon to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. 900 Kennedy Blvd. (856) 504-3442. Go to flyingfish.com.

If you’re looking for music, dancing and sexy bingo (who knew?), Shady Katie’s serves up all three along with plenty of beer options and a solid bar menu. A typical week at Katie’s is packed with events: Tuesdays feature open band jams starting at 8 p.m., while Wednesdays are when you get your specials on domestic and imported beers. Live bands and DJs come out to play on Fridays and Saturdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m., respectively. And, of course, sexy bingo holds court every second Thursday of the month, where for $20 you get to join in the fun and maybe even win a naughty prize. 814 S. White Horse Pike. (856) 346-3001. How about a little neighborhood bar with pool, ping pong and a lack of pretense? The Little Spot Tavern fits the bill. On Tuesdays nights and Sundays all day, you can play pool for free while listening to a wide variety of tunes from their jukebox. Happy hour is happens Monday through Friday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Also good to note: Little Spot Tavern is open until 3 a.m. every day, so you have plenty of time to cry and curse out the Phillies this season before you need to go home. 1124 S. Many places in South Jersey claim to have the best wings around, and The Warwick Tavern is no exception. The Wick wears the tag of dive bar as a badge of honor and has gained the reputation as a place for locals to congregate. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., with $2 domestic drafts ready to go. 400 S. Warwick Road. (856) 346-9425. Go to warwicktavern.com.

And as long as we’re on Warwick Road, let’s take a short trip over the border into Hi-Nella (passport not necessary) and check in at the Hi-Nella Bar & Grill. You know you’re in a serious bar when closing time Wednesday through Saturday is 5 a.m. You’ll enjoy drink specials every day, such as $2 Yuengling and Coors Light pints on Mondays and $2 Miller Light bottles and drafts on Fridays. If you find yourself with the munchies on a Monday, it’s all you can eat mussels and wings. 709 S. Warwick Road, Hi-Nella. (856) 627-5050. Visit facebook.com/hinellabg.
