It's one thing to watch "Hell's Kitchen'' or "Chopped'' from the comfort of your couch.

But what would it be like to be out on that industrial kitchen floor, competing with some foodie masterminds, trying to create fabulous dishes with 'wow' presentation while trying to work with in unique ingredient challenges?

Think you can take the pressure, even if Gordon Ramsay isn't screaming at you, wielding a really big knife?

The Food Bank of South Jersey Hunger Games will pit teams representing South Jersey corporations against each other, challenged with whipping up tasty fare using only typical Food Bank provisions.

The fun takes place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Food Bank of South Jersey headquarters in South Jersey.

Online registration ends April 28 at 12:00 noon. Walk-ins are welcome. The cost will be $15 at the door.

Guests can sample various desserts from area restaurants and bakeries, and vote for their favorite.

Teams representing the following companies will compete: Panera Bread, Allied Energy Efficiency Experts, Webimax, United Airlines, Susquehanna Bank, Subaru and last year's winners, Grayhair Software.

The event will be judged by yours truly, as well as Glenn Hurricane Schwartz, chief meteorologist for NBC 10 News and Bill Anderson, WEEKEND co-host for FOX 29 News.

The winning team gets a Champion's Trophy and professional chef toques.
