Violence at S.J. Wawas: 2 stabbed, 1 shot

Staff and wire services

One person was shot and two people were stabbed in separate incidents outside South Jersey Wawa stores.

In the first incident, Winslow police responded to a report of a fight in a Wawa parking lot around 2:30 a.m., and ended up arresting a shooting suspect.

Hours later, around 11 a.m., a reported lover's triangle resulted in a double stabbing outside a Runnemede Wawa, according to media reports.

Charges are also expected in the Runnemede incident.

In Winslow, police were called to the Wawa at 400 Sicklerville Road around 2:30 a.m. for a fight in the parking lot, according to a release. Police were told to be on the lookout for an armed suspect.

The first officer to arrive spotted a car speeding off, and tried to pull over the vehicle. But the driver continued, tossing a handgun out the window as he sped away, police said.

The driver, identified as Lameen Adams, 36, of Lindenwold, eventually stopped and officers found a loaded 9mm handgun in the area where it had been thrown out the window, police said. Other officers found a 26-year-old Glassboro man in the parking lot who had been shot in leg. The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Camden County Prosecutor's Office investigators assisted in the investigation.

Adams is charged with aggravated assault, hindering arrest and multiple weapons offenses after allegedly trying to speed away from police. He was taken to Camden County Jail in default of $100,000 bail.

The Runnemede Wawa incident began after a Voorhees woman used a phone tracking app to find her estranged husband with his girlfriend before a confrontation that ended with the woman and a worker stabbed, police said.

WCAU-TV reports the confrontation occurred around 10:30 a.m.

Police say Sayidah Davis of Voorhees followed her husband to the store and saw his girlfriend, Shenandoah Goldsby, of New York City, in her husband's car at the store's gas pumps.

Police said Davis approached the car and punched Goldsby in the head and then Goldsby allegedly stabbed Davis several times in the side and arm.

A gas station attendant saw the fight and tried to break it up, but he was stabbed in the arms. The fight then spread into the store as Davis tried to get away from Goldsby.

Davis and the attendant were taken to the hospital, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening. Davis' husband, who was using the store's bathroom when the fight broke out, was not involved in the brawl.

Authorities say both women likely will face assault charges, and other charges could be filed once the investigation is completed.

The store was briefly closed so the fight scene could be cleaned up.
