Police: Officer shot knife-wielding senior
CHESILHURST - A police officer shot and injured a man who allegedly brandished a knife and threatened women at a senior housing facility in the borough.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the Aug. 2 incident at the B'nai B'rith Chesilhurst House on the White Horse Pike. Police responded to a 911 call about 4:15 p.m. reporting a disturbance at the residential facility's management office; two women told the dispatcher that man with a butcher knife was threatening them and held one of the women at knifepoint.

Chesilhurst officers said they located Daniel McOsker, a resident of the facility in his 60s, in his apartment, still holding a meat cleaver. Police said they moved visitors to safety and ordered McOsker several times to drop the cleaver, but shot him in the leg after he failed to do so.
McOsker was taken to Cooper University Hospital for his injuries; he remains there and is charged with criminal restraint, terroristic threats and weapons offenses. The officer, whom police did not identify, has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
